Brief Description of Event: World Radiology Day is observed every year on 8th November to commemorate the historic discovery of x-radiation by Sir Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen which changed the field of healthcare and medicine. This day recognises and honours the pivotal role of radiographers in the modern healthcare system. This year, 2024, the World Radiography Day Theme is ‘‘Radiographers: Seeing the Unseen”.
Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, BBD College of Dental Sciences also celebrated the day highlighting the crucial contribution of radiographers in the healthcare system.
The program began with Dr. Deepak U, HOD Department of OMR welcoming faculty members and postgraduates & undergraduate students. He also elaborated on the significance of the day and the theme of the year. On this occasion the radiographer Mr. Ravikanth working in the department was felicitated for his
contribution.
A quiz competition was kept for all the four batches of postgraduate students. The proceedings of the quiz were taken care by Dr. Priya Singh, Reader OMR & Dr. Puja Rai, Sr. Lecturer OMR. The three teams participating were named as Roentgen, Curie & Hounsfield. Quiz was based on four rounds assessing the participants on the basis of their knowledge on identification of normal radiographic features, identification of various radiographic views, identification of pathology & identification of advanced modalities and pathologies in the same. Hounsfield team comprising of Dr. Priyanka Khanna (JR III), Dr. Somya Jaiswal (JR II) & Dr. Yashi Yadav (JR I) came out as winners and were felicitated by Dr. Deepak U, HOD OMR.
